The Reverend Davitra Smith is the founder and CEO of Speak Light, LLC, an inspirational and intellectual speaking company. Her platform shares a message of history, and hope for what is to come. Speak Light’s vision aims to inform, enlighten, and influence the next generation towards exploring their endless possibilities and potential. With her passionate preaching and charismatic contemporary presentation “Vitra the Preacha” prays that God will continue using her as a servant vessel in changing lives across the globe.

Reverend Smith believes in taking her message beyond the pulpit and is championing the cause for many within her community as a prophetic voice for social justice and even more, those with special needs, whether they be physical, mental, or emotional. Holding a special place within her heart is being an advocate of diabetes research, Type One in particular. Here she lends her voice to the constant cause of petitioning legislators in the campaign for additional research funding for those affected by diabetes-with the hopes of one day finding a cure.

Two major highlights in Reverend Smith’s ministerial journey was being highlighted as a premier, up and coming preacher in the Dr. Ella P. Mitchell Daughters of Thunder Conference. The second, a rewarding experience of helping students as a Teaching Assistant for Systematic Theology through the Black Seminarian Fellowship.  Reverend Smith is a graduate of Palmer Theological Seminary, (Saint David’s, PA) where she earned her Master of Divinity degree. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Religion and a certification in Business Administration from Temple University, (Philadelphia, PA). She also worked at Temple in the Division of Student Affairs serving as a Director in Residence Life, receiving numerous awards.

In the civic arena, Reverend Smith is a proud member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, where she is chapter chaplain, and has previously served as co-chair of the Childhood Hunger committee in the fight towards ending hunger in the city of Philadelphia. She also served as the chaplain for the Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated, Montgomery County chapter.

Reverend Smith is blessed with two children, her daughter Jeniece Yvette Marie and son Bakari Ade (pronounced: Ah-day) Xavier Smith.

Born and raised in the church, Reverend Smith is a native of Philadelphia, growing up in the Philadelphia & Montgomery County schools. Accepting Christ at the age of six, she later accepted her call to ministry, preaching her initial sermon in 2002. Among her favorite things to do include painting, reading, nature, and spending quality time with family and friends. Reverend Smith is also a fond lover of preaching and sharing the Good News!
